Short-term Visits
Opportunities for researchers from developing countries
The ICTP Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics section offers yearly a number of grants for short-term visits. The purpose of visits is to perform own theoretical studies in areas of expertise of the CMSP Section in close interaction with the Section's resident staff and visiting scientists. As a rule these visits may be for a maximum period of 1 month.
Scientists from developing countries are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to requests for visits outside the summer period. Candidates should apply using the ICTP online application system. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
A short (max. 1 page) research plan, for the expected visit at ICTP should also be added. At least two recommendation letters (to be sent separately by the referees after submission of application) are required for junior scientists, postdocs and graduate students.
In case of self-funded applicants (not requesting support), the above documentation must be accompanied by a letter from the home institute certifying the full coverage of their visit expenses (travel, board and lodging) and sent separately to cm@ictp.it
Please note that the beginning of our short-term visit opportunities programme may also depend on the current pandemic situation.
