2026 Postdoctoral Position in quantum many body theory and quantum optics

ICTP seeks applications for a Postdoctoral position in the field of quantum many body theory and quantum optics, including interfaces with computational and machine learning methods, as well as quantum information, from outstanding young scientists of any nationality with a strong research record. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Starting period: January to March 2026

Fellows must have completed a PhD in physics or related disciplines prior to the start of their Fellowship. 

ICTP offers internationally competitive remuneration and a number of benefits. Appointment will be made for two years.  Candidates should apply through the ICTP online application system.

With about 50 academic members (faculty, visitors, postdocs and graduate students), an intense programme of workshops and conferences, and close collaborations with local scientific institutions such as SISSA, Elettra, and the University of Trieste, the CMSP section provides a vibrant international research environment. Postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged, and supported, to participate in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of ICTP.
