ICTP to participate in Trieste Pint of Science event
A Sip of Science

ICTP will be well represented at Trieste's 'Pint of Science' event, a public science festival where scientists deliver interesting talks about their research to the general public, in the informal setting of a pub.

The event takes place over the course of three days, from Monday 14 May to Wednesday 16 May. Researchers from Trieste science institutes who are passionate about their work will share the joy of science with the public at four local pubs. All talks are in Italian.

Themes for the four venues include astronomy, technology and planet Earth. Amongst the many scientists taking part in the event, ICTP's Rosario Fazio, head of the Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics (CMSP) section, will talk about quantum computing, while his CMSP colleague Luca Grisanti will discuss supercomputers. Under the planet Earth theme, Susanna Strada, a postdoctoral fellow with ICTP's Earth System Physics (ESP) section, will present the fragrant connection between plants, air quality and climate, while ESP PhD student Giorgio Graffino will participate in a presentation on magnetic fields and meteorological modelling. Natasa Stojic of ICTP's Applied Physics section will join in a discussion about graphene. ICTP mathematician Stefano Luzzatto will explore fractals and black holes.

Each evening's talks begin at 19:30. For the full program, including details about the talks and locations of the pubs, visit the Trieste Pint of Science website (in Italian).
