Robin Santra on "Atoms in Intense Light Fields"
ICTP Colloquium 17 April

ICTP is pleased to announce the forthcoming ICTP Colloquium on "Atoms in Intense Light Fields", by Professor Robin Santra. The talk will take place on Tuesday 17 April 2018 at 16:30, in the Budinich Lecture Hall, Leonardo Building, ICTP.

Prof. Santra will present recent developments at the interface between attosecond science and x-ray science. In this context, he will discuss theoretical models of nonperturbative light-matter interactions and the performance of these models in comparison with experiment.

Robin Santra is a professor of theoretical physics jointly appointed by DESY and the University of Hamburg. His accomplishments include the prediction of electronic hole dynamics and alignment in optical strong-field ionization, and predictions that motivated and supported the first experiments at the x-ray free-electron laser LCLS. He has been awarded the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics and has received the U.S. Presidential Early Career Award (PECASE). He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
