ICTP Prize 2013: Call for Nominations

ICTP is accepting nominations for the 2013 ICTP Prize. The prize, which includes a sculpture, a certificate, and a cash prize of 3000 euros, is awarded to young researchers, under 40, from developing countries.

Established in 1982 by the ICTP Scientific Council, the prize has recognised young researchers who have made outstanding and original contributions to physics. Past winners include the late Chike Obi (1985), Nigerian mathematician and politician; Ashoke Sen (1989), Indian theoretical physicist who has been awarded the 2012 Fundamental Physics Prize; and current ICTP Director Fernando Quevedo (1998).

More recent winners include Shiraz Minwalla (2010), for his contributions to string theory and gauge/gravity duality; Ado Jorio (2011), for his Raman spectroscopy work on single carbon nanotubes; and Pablo Mininni (2012) for advancing the understanding of fluid and magnetofluid turbulence at a fundamental theoretical level and applications in astrophysics and atmospheric sciences.
