ICTP's Earth System Physics section (ESP, https://www.ictp.it/research/esp.aspx) seeks applications for its "Vilhelm Bjerknes" Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship from highly motivated scientists with multiple interests and skills and a strong research record for a two years period, renewable for an additional third year subject to performance, starting as soon as possible in 2026, ideally not later than beginning of March 2026.
As Senior Post-doc, the candidate is required to engage in the following 3 areas:
1. Act as Chapter Scientist for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Seventh Assessment report (AR7) for Working Group I, Chapter 7: Projections of regional climate and extremes (50%)
2. Conduct frontline research in the area of projections of regional climate and extremes (30%)
3. Engage in the ICTP-IAP-IPCC Chapter Scientist programme, in particular supporting the ICTP Principle Investigator of this programme in organizing training activities for Chapter Scientists (20%).
