The Medical Physics Programme at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) invites applications from outstanding early-career scientists of any nationality for a postdoctoral position starting in autumn 2025 or winter 2026.
ICTP's Medical Physics Programme offers a Master's degree in collaboration with the University of Trieste, organizes international workshops and schools in partnership with leading organizations in the field, and maintains a strong collaboration with the Medical Physics group at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The programme conducts cutting-edge research in computational medical physics, with a focus on both diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

- Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging and Therapy
- Monte Carlo Simulations
- Biophysical Modeling
- Global Health Applications in Medical Physics
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct independent research under the guidance of the program head
- Teach one or more courses in the Master's programme
- Assist in organizing international schools and workshops
- Engage with students and visiting associates

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should hold a PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related discipline, and possess clinical experience in medical physics.
The appointment will be made for one year, renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
The net monthly salary ranges between 2,100–2,700 EUR depending on seniority. Benefits include private health insurance, pension contribution, special allowances for family members (if applicable), and competitive travel funds.
