Roy J. Glauber, a professor of physics at Harvard University and
a winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics, will share his
memories of and historical insight into the dawn of the nuclear era
through a talk at ICTP titled "Recollections of Los Alamos and the
Nuclear Era".
The lecture will be held on Wednesday 31 July at 17:00 in ICTP's
Main Lecture Hall.
Glauber was only an undergraduate student when he was recruited
for the Manhattan Project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in
New Mexico, USA. His later work focussed on optics, culminating in
the Nobel recognition for his theoretical description of the
behaviour of light particles.
The lecture is open to everyone.
