Erio Tosatti of ICTP's Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics section, has written a Perspectives piece for Science magazine's 20 March 2009 edition. Titled "Fullerides in a Squeeze", the text comments on an experimental article in the same issue by Takabayashi et al., reporting on a new fulleride material that shows an insulator-superconductor transition. Based on recent theories developed by the Trieste-Rome group, the Perspective draws analogies between this behaviour of fullerides and that of the very different and controversial high-temperature superconducting materials known as cuprates.
