ICTP Distinguished Conversation: Ashoke Sen

As part of the series of Distinguished Conversations between ICTP Director Atish Dabholkar and eminent scientists who have visited ICTP, we release the conversation with Ashoke Sen, one of the world’s best-known string theorists.

Sen is a professor at the International Center for Theoretical Sciences at Bengaluru, India, and has a long affiliation with ICTP, having won the centre's ICTP Prize in 1989 and the Dirac Medal in 2014. He has also been a distinguished staff associate in the High Energy, Cosmology, and Astroparticle Physics section and has served on ICTP's Scientific Council.

In this interview, Sen and Dabholkar discuss Sen's far-ranging work on various aspects of string theory and quantum field theory. The interview was made in March 2025.
