In Memoriam

With great sadness we learned that Dr. Gemma Teresa Narisma passed away on 5 March 2021.

Gemma was the Director of the Manila Observatory and a world renowned expert in climate modeling and climate change. She was a long-standing friend and colleague of ICTP's Earth System Physics section; she visited the Centre on several occasions, and co-organized an ICTP-sponsored RegCM training workshop in Manila on 25-29 May 2015.

In addition to being an outstanding scientist, Gemma was a very gentle and thoughtful person, always willing to help younger collegues. She will be sorely missed by the ESP section.
