ICTP's Scientific Fabrication Laboratory (SciFabLab) is celebrating European Maker Week with two activities open to the public.
On Friday 18 May from 17:00 to 19:00, SciFabLab staff will demonstrate how to become a "maker" in a short time. Titled "From Zero to Maker: Learning to Create with the Technology of the Future", the event will demonstrate the digital manufacturing experience, using the SciFabLab's 3D printers and laser cutters. A recent project--a cloud chamber particle detector--will be on display. The event takes place in the Trieste Citta della Conoscenza space located in Trieste's Central Station.
On Saturday 19 May from 15:00 to 20:00, the general public is welcome to attend the SciFabLab Open Day, to be held at its space on the ground floor of ICTP's Enrico Fermi building. Visitors will have the chance to see and touch maker tools such as 3d printers and laser cutters, and there will be interactive demonstrations and talks by makers.
More details about both events can be found on the SciFabLab web page. Entrance is free.
