Mathematics Section Now Hiring

ICTP's Mathematics section has announced a vacancy for a Research Scientist. The application deadline is 1 December 2017.

The candidate will develop and coordinate research and training initiatives in pure or applied mathematics, preferably one that complements fields currently covered at ICTP, including partial differential equations and numerical analysis. In addition to research projects, the candiate will also supervise students and teach.

ICTP's joint goals cover not only cutting-edge research, but also supporting scientific capacity building in developing countries. The prefered candidate will support these goals and establish extensive collaborations with scientists in developing countries and work with scientists across the globe to organize workshops, schools, and conferences.

Futher duties will include:

• Organize seminars, schools, workshops, conferences and topical meetings, and selection of participants.
• Review the applications for postdoctoral work and Associateships, Postgraduate Diploma courses, and short-term and long-term visits.
• Teach in ICTP's Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Mathematics, and collaborate, as appropriate, with the Associates as well as other visitors to the Centre, especially those from developing countries.
