Condensed Matter Physics Opportunities

ICTP's Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics (CMSP) section is now accepting applications for several postdoctoral positions and short-term visitor opportunities, with expected starting date in autumn 2018. These include:

Short-term visits: The purpose of short-term visits is to perform own theoretical studies in areas of expertise of the CMSP section in close interaction with the section's resident staff and visiting scientists.  As a rule these visits may be for a maximum period of 1 month. Scientists from developing countries are encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to requests for visits outside summer period. Candidates should apply using the ICTP online application system. Postdoctoral felllowships: Fellows must have completed a PhD in physics or related disciplines prior to the start of their fellowship. ICTP offers internationally competitive remuneration and a number of benefits including a pension contribution and special allowances for family members. Appointments will be made for two years, with the possibility of renewal for one more year. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of expertise of the CMSP group. "Ludwig Boltzmann" Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship: This is a senior postdoctoral fellowship for outstanding young scientists of any nationality with a strong research record. Candidates should have at least one previous postdoctoral experience, and have very active and independent research in their own area. The "Ludwig Boltzmann" appointment will be made for three years, with the possibility of renewal for two more years. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of expertise of the CMSP group. More details, including the online application form, are here.
