Tullio Regge, an Italian physicist who made important contributions to theoretical and mathematical physics, has died at the age of 83.
Professor Regge received ICTP's 1996 Dirac Medal that recognised, among other things, the Regge behaviour, an important ingredient in the construction of String theories, as well as for his formulation of supergravity theories in the geometric language of differential forms. The full citation of the Dirac Medal is here.
