Adnan Abid received his PhD in Meteorology in 2018 from King Abdulaziz university, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He Joined ICTP in Feb. 2018.
His research focuses on the climate variability and predictability on different time scales, with a focus on the role of the inter-basin interactions. His research interest includes El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, air-sea interactions, sources of predictability and Monsoons. He is using the inter-basin interactions framework to understand the tropical and extratropical teleconnections. He worked over the Arabian Peninsula climate variability and predictability, where he established the role of the ENSO in the seasonal rainfall variability and predictability. His research also focuses over the Central, Western and South Asian Climate.
He is using the Intermediate complexity Global Climate model (atmosphere only and coupled) as a tool to understand the climate interactions on different timescales.
